Sal Tree and Its uses

Sal Tree is a deciduous tree of average height 35 meter. It is a evergreen tree. Its leaves are green and flowers are of yellow color. The Sal Tree is found throughout India. It is mostly found on the foothills of the Himalaya. Sal Tree requires more water so it is generally propagated where there is moist and sandy loam soil. It is mostly propagated through cuttings. Its fruits ripe in the month of June-July.

Medicinal Uses:

1. Its resin is used to make medicine which works as astringent and detergent for the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery.
2. It is used as ingredient for making ointments which is very effective for curing skin diseases.
3. Its drop is used in ear troubles
4. It is used to make cream for foot
5. The fruits of the Sal Tree is very effective in the treatment of excessive epilepsy, salivation and chlorosis.
6. Its powder is used as insecticides
7. Its powder is very good and used for dental treatment
8. It is used to make cleanser for skin

Other Uses:

1. The leaves of Sal Tree is heavily used for making smoking
2. The leaves are used to make plates, bowls and platters
3. Its leaves are used to make perfumes
4. It is used to flavor in the gums and tobacco.
5. Its leaves and stems are used to make fertilizers
6. Its stems are hard and used to make ship, boat, and other household wooden thing

  2. In wetter areas, it is evergreen; in drier areas, it is dry-season deciduous, shedding most of the leaves in between February to April, leafing out again in April and May.
