Indian Tulip Tree

The Height of Indian Tulip Tree is approximately 50 feet or more. It is very large tree. It leaves are of heart shaped. Its stem is very hard so it is used for making furniture, chair, almirah, Bed, Table etc. It is a evergreen tree. Most of the branches goes straight. Its fruits is in the shape of round capsule. Indian Tulip Tree can be propagated through its seeds in deep rich soils. It can be propagated with its cuttings also. It sheds its leave in the months of February and new leaves produced in the month of march-april.

Medicinal Uses:

  • Inner Bark of Indian Tulip Tree is used for diuretic and stimulant.
  • Its green bark is chewed as an aphrodisaic.
  • Its tea is taken in the treatment of indigestion, dysentery, rheumatism, coughs and fevers.
  • Its bark is used for the treatment of skin diseases and haemorrhoids.
  • Its leaves are applied on swollen joints.
  • Its leaves are applied on ringworm.
  • Its roots are used as the tonic.

Other Uses:

  • fruits, flowers and young leaves are edible.
  • Its bark is used to make boat.
  • Its fruits is used to make yellow dye.
  • Its fruits is used for making of gum, oil and tannin.
  • Paper is made using its timber
  • Bowls, paddles and other carved objects are make with its wood.
